Decorating

When I arrived to our Danish flat, crossed the threshold and put my feet onto the newly sanded floors I realized something. While looking around briefly, I was reminded how I ridiculed Brooke and April so much for their foo-foo preferences. Now, I need my sisters more than ever. I need WOMAN in this manly apartment! But since the two live across the river and Denmark doesn't carry Martha Stewarts "Living" magazine, I settled for "Bolig Liv" instead. Phew! I was in the clear. Country Living combined together with modern Scandinavian style! I filled my brain with what I remembered my apartment to look like on Palmer Dr. and acquainted myself with the Danish decor. Then Sunday afternoon came around and Simon hitched a trailer to the Chercka's automobile and it was off to the Blue Market we went.

Having been to this place only once five months ago, I had forgotten something that I shouldn't have. Don't wear anything nice here unless you want your clothes to smell like you have smoked 15 cigarettes in the course of an hour. However, this is a vintage lovers dream come true so the price you pay is worth it. Its like a mile of STUFF. Anything you could think of new and old. The prices are unbelievable, too. It makes Currituck Antiques prices seem like Bloomingdale's or something. Simon and I were here for 3 hours (that's 45 cigs we wish we didn't smell like) and found two amazing pieces: a pine wood kitchen table and a old cabinet where our tv now sits. They are wonderful pieces and fulfill the expectations of the Danes while complimenting my shabby chic expectations, as well. This weekend we plan to go back for a couch and a window bench (pray Fabreeze will conquer the smoke). Simon and I will live danish...delightfully once and for all!
