For those of you who have kept up with Simon and I from the beginning you will know the school where he works and we now live. This is a brief description.
Simon and I live about one hour away from Copenhagen. Our flat is on the top floor of an old manor nestled in a small Danish town called Køge (pronounced "coo", my favorite surf term on the Outer Banks). The building erected around 1563 and was lived in by the mother of king Christian IV, in 1611. I am told that at some point in history the purpose of the foundation was "...to provide a place where ladies of rank may come and reside in order to seek and know God. The building was also an asset to society by becoming a blessing to the poor."
This place is now known to many today as Billesborg Skølen (Billesborg School). Still Billesborg offers a place of blessings. First graders through ninth graders wanting a Christian education from experienced teachers come here from August to the following June. The school contains around 90 students with 10-15 supervisors. Students study about the same thing Americans do. Music seems to be incorporated more frequently in teaching, however. I constantly hear the guitar from our flat, which is wonderful.
Among the classrooms and principals office there are some University students living at Billesborg, also. They each have bedrooms with common area kitchens and living rooms. Kinda like a college suite. The group are our age and an exciting bunch . Billesborg also has a sanctuary! Our church, Koge Pentecostal Church, takes place here every Sunday, as well! Not all the faculty attend our particular church, but some do. I find that this is the way to get to know everyone: seeing them roaming the halls during the week then having an opportunity to get to know them after worship. We are blessed where we lived!
Just wanted to thank all of you keeping in contact with me. My relationship with you has given me the extra push to crave more awesome relationships. I can't wait to see you all this summer!! O and the ladies with the high rank...well, that's me, duh!
The pictures below are what it looks like outside on this Valentines day: romantic white. Simon and I have to cuddle close together to keep warm! Smeereer!
