Well, you know what I spent my day doing!

Hey my English friends (what, what, what). We are back and I am having a little bit of difficulty converting to Southern American lingo rather than Danglish in this life documentary blog. I have to remember when I talk to you I must incorporate "yawl", "might could", "I rekon", "quit messin," "maters," "ptaters," dag gonit," "daaaaang," "shoot" "jaeatyet?" and "yaonto?". I'll give it my best shot. IIIIat, here goes:

While I was at home I had several people question my surroundings in Denmark. Simon and I live in a school/church/apartment (which I promise is not a cult) building called "Billesborg". While trying my hardest to explain this to folks there was jus no justifying it. I found this intellectual article but I know you hill billy bums need a little something special. I will try to relay to you in the NCVersion. It explains the history of "Billesborg" and how it got to be what it is today.

I rekon, this oversized beach box was first founded in 1563. And by 1611 it was owned by Ellen Marsvin, King Christen IV's mother-law. Yawl might could say that in 1653 the new owner, knight/advisor named Christen, relocated it to where it is today. It was up the road down yonder bout a half a mile but homeboy moved it back. It wasn't called "Billesborg" however, but "Rudholt" named after the knight/advisor's deceased wife, Birgette Rud. She finally became "Billesborg" after the death of Birgette's daughter in-law, Kirsten Bille, in 1695. Evidently, she had been the owner during this time period. Then Frederik IV owned it. Then he died. Christian VI inherited it and around 1736 he gave it to his wife queen Sophie Magdalene along with the surrounding land and the castle up the road. Daaaang, this thing has been passed down! Fortunatley homegirl didn't die before she founded Vallo Foundation in 1737 by means of all the land her hubby gave her (O, Romeo, where for art thou?). Get this my true southern, Bible loving, Christians: The purpose of the foundation was to provide a place where ladies of rank may come and reside in order to seek and know God. At the same time, the foundation was to be an asset to society by being a blessing to the poor. And for me, a woman of rank, dag gonit it has been!

Vallo Foundation has been in ownership of Billesborg Manor for the past 267 year. In the midst of all this it was a bording school, and a mental institute (little scary). Right now, however, it is a church, some apartments and a school(
http://www.billesborgskolen.dk) and has been so for over 10 years. Simon and I in fact work, go to church and live here. Again, I am not in a cult!

Daaaaang! Jaeatyet? Yaonto? IIat, because this thing is so long you probably need a break. Anyway, that explains our beach box that never landed in Kim Lane's hands. If you need more information I can send brochures. Peace out and thanks again for this summer!

Yur hi-tech red nex,

Simon and Court
